Android XR Glasses

During my time at Google, I contributed to the design and UX exploration efforts for what would become the AndroidXR platform, helping shape the user experience for glasses-based augmented reality. My work focused on thinking through how users interact with core mobile features, such as messaging, photography, navigation, and real-time translation, through a heads-up, lightweight, and context-aware AR interface.

Collaborating closely with product, research, and engineering teams, I led design explorations that prioritized intuitive, non-intrusive interactions. The focus was on respecting user attention, physical context, and comfort while unlocking new, ambient modes of computing unique to the spatial medium.

TED Talk

Recorded at TED2025
on April 8, 2025

In a live TED Talk demo, Google’s Shahram Izadi introduces the AndroidXR platform, showcasing how smart glasses powered by AI can summarize books, translate languages, and even help you remember where you left your keys. The talk offers a real-time look at how extended reality (XR) devices are evolving to be smart, seamless, and woven directly into daily life.
